Senior appointments strengthen Gensler Singapore’s operations and architecture design practice

Singapore – Gensler has appointed Carlos Gerhard as Design Director, Principal and Tamagin Blake-Smith as Strategy Director of its Singapore operations. This marks a significant step for Gensler Singapore, strengthening its architecture design practice and operations alongside existing urban design, architecture, master planning, and consulting capabilities. Carlos and Tamagin are both vastly experienced having designed and managed global projects.

Carlos has close to 30 years of solid architectural background with a strong design portfolio for mixed use and commercial office developments. Having worked extensively throughout Greater China, Singapore, Philippines, India and Vietnam, he has been transferred to Singapore as Design Director to lead the architectural design practice with a responsibility for projects that span complex adaptive reuse and reposition projects, and new, ground-up buildings. His leadership further extends to his role as the Asia Pacific and Middle East region’s Practice Area Leader for Design Synergy. In this role, Carlos co-leads the region’s thought-leadership and market position around design resilience and creating efficient design delivery processes. He is widely acknowledged as an expert in his field and is highly regarded as an invaluable strategic partner to all of his clients with a demonstrated track record of delivering a variety of smart buildings, mixed use and commercial office projects which include 79 Robinson Road and as the lead designer Rochester Commons.

Tamagin has more than 18 years’ experience, possessing deep knowledge in the commercial, workplace and education sectors, with a broad and diverse track record of successful projects. Throughout his career, he has worked in architectural firms that value and invest in research driven outcomes, leveraging on strategic insights to unlock the projects’ potential in realising exceptional design outcomes. As an established practitioner in the Singapore market for more than 10 years, he is deeply committed in pushing the industry forward, both locally and regionally. In his role as a Strategy Director, he leads a team of professionals focused on best practice workplace design, approaching each project with a detailed understanding of the impact of design on business performance. Passionate about strategy, it underpins the way that he approaches every project, regardless of client type, sector, scale or complexity. His recent key projects include an array of award winning workplace and commercial spaces.
