A Belfast Office Complex, in a desirable location close to Belfast City Centre, George Best City Airport and the Titanic Quarter, embarked on a recent lighting overhaul. The aim of the refurbishment was to improve the aesthetics of the offices, deliver better light levels, and reduce energy costs.

Aurora Lighting were chosen to provide the luminaires for the project, spanning general lighting and emergency solutions. With a market-leading range of superior lighting options, Aurora was able to fulfil the wide scope of the project’s lighting needs.

The refurbishment works began with a full onsite energy audit of the offices, conducted by Aurora Lighting. A subsequent proposal was put forward to replacement the existing, outdated lighting with LED equivalents. As well as matching the existing cut-outs, the replacements from Aurora Lighting needed to be dimmable solutions that suited the existing system. This was essential to ensure a reduction of labour costs, and meet the allowable timeframe for the project.

The lighting products were supplied through Mercers, Belfast; a respected and popular electrical wholesaler located in the city. The solutions, from across the Aurora Lighting portfolio, have been used in many differing locations throughout the office complex:

The project ran smoothly, with every solution being supplied from Mercers to Harvey Group for an on-time installation. The wide range of solutions from Aurora Lighting blend striking aesthetics with outstanding energy savings, meeting the original brief and exceeding expectations.

The upgrades to the Aurora Lighting solutions have saved 10,988 watts, and delivered 36,517.9 kwh of energy savings. The impressive payback period is just 28.65 months, meaning the investment will pay for itself in just over two years.

The contractor, Harvey Group, and the end-user have both reported being very happy with the outcome and end result.

Ed Denny, National Sales Manager for Aurora Lighting, said: “A growing number of offices are upgrading their outdated and inefficient lighting. This office complex in Belfast not only secured better aesthetics and improved light levels, which has a more positive impact on those working in these spaces, the energy savings will pay for the lighting in just over two years. This is a great example of where an investment made now can secure a better and more affordable future, and Aurora Lighting has everything needed to make these deliver on these types of projects.”

Aurora Lighting was able to provide a wide range of technologically advanced lighting solutions that met the requirements of the project. The products offered great aesthetics and energy savings, with an impressive payback period.
